“MOVING FORWARD”

Acceptance is the beginning.

One of the most important lessons in recovery is that change often starts with acceptance. Not approval. Not resignation. Simply an honest acknowledgement of where we are right now.

For many people struggling with an eating disorder, there is an exhausting battle between what is and what they wish were true. Recovery invites a different approach. It asks us to stop fighting reality and begin working with it.

Acceptance allows us to recognise our challenges, our fears and our vulnerabilities without being defined by them. It creates the space needed for growth and change. From that place, recovery becomes less about finding the perfect solution and more about taking the next right step.

That step may be asking for help. It may be attending a therapy session, following a meal plan, or choosing self-compassion over self-criticism. Whatever it looks like, meaningful recovery is built one choice at a time.

Moving forward does not require perfection. It requires willingness. A willingness to trust the process, surrender the struggle and continue taking small steps towards a healthier future.
