“Climbing Together”
A Milestone at the Summit
At Imani Treatment Centre, recovery is a holistic journey. It’s not just about learning tools or building resilience—it’s about discovering connection, forming meaningful relationships, and rebuilding both emotional and physical wellbeing. Recently, two clients, Renske and Pien, reached a special milestone: climbing Lion’s Head together as they concluded their time at Imani.
Their friendship, built on trust, honesty, and support, became a source of strength every step of the way. It highlights how connection can be a powerful ally in recovery, helping clients navigate challenges and celebrate achievements.
“I learned that the opposite of addiction is connection. At Imani, I built a friendship that reminded me how important trust and sharing are. It brought back parts of me I’d hidden for a long time—the spontaneous, joyful moments—and gave my recovery new meaning. I’m so grateful to have met a true friend here.”

“I can be myself without judgment. I feel safe, seen, and heard. Our friendship is built on trust, respect, and honesty. She has supported me through some really hard times, and I’ll always be there for her too. I’m so grateful our paths crossed and that we found each other at Imani.”

From a clinical and dietetics perspective, milestones like this are significant. Rebuilding physical strength, stamina, and energy levels is just as important as emotional resilience.
“Recovery is about more than emotional wellbeing—it’s also about restoring physical health. Through structured nutrition and support, we help clients rebuild energy reserves, reset metabolism, and regain strength and stamina. Milestones like climbing Lion’s Head are powerful indicators of progress, showing clients not only their physical resilience but also the confidence and independence that come from a fully supported recovery journey.”
—Julia Lovely, Registered Dietitian, Imani Treatment Centre
The climb up Lion’s Head is more than a physical achievement—it symbolises the culmination of their treatment journey. It is a moment to reflect, celebrate, and step into the next chapter of life, supported, confident, and ready to embrace independence.
